Joel A. Wiseman, BA, LLB

Joel A. Wiseman was born and raised in Chillicothe, Ohio, and moved to Prince George, B.C. in 1967. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts (political science) from the University of British Columbia in 1980, and graduated from UBC Law School in 1983.

Throuhghout his high school and university years, Joel was employed in most sectors of the forest industry, including Northwood Pulp and Timber, Prince George Pulp Mill (now Canfor) and the Northwood Sawmill. He operated heavy equipment and other control functions of the pulp mills, including the business end of brooms and shovels.

After graduating from law school, Joel worked for two Vancouver law firms practising mainly in the areas of corporate law and commercial real estate. He later moved to Prince George where he conducted a general practice at Heather Sadler Jenkins, one of the larger northern law firms. Joel moved to Kelowna in 2000 and now prefers to restrict the major portion of his practice to Wills, Estates and Estate Planning, as well as corporate and commercial matters. Joel frequently handles many other aspects of business law as well as estate litigation.

Joel has served the community extensively over the years, including directorships with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Ducks Unlimited (Prince George), Cariboo Action Training Society (Camp Trapping) and the Prince George Yellowhead Rotary Club. He is currently a Director of the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation and Okanagan-Similkameen Film Commission and is a member of the Kelowna Estate Planning Society, Kelowna Capri Rotary Club and the Kelowna Fish & Game Club.

Joel enjoys golfing, skiing, hunting and fishing, as well as mountain biking. His spouse, Melinda, assists him in the practice and he has two teenage sons.
